With over 35 years of legal experience, our principal Alex Lee has headed various business organisations including Thailand NZ Business Council and HK NZ Business Association and have led international business delegations.
He also was a Director of the NZ Association for Migration & Investment Inc. Alex was also the Auckland Branch Director of the Institute of Professional Legal Studies and taught at various law schools in Hong Kong and Auckland.
Alex Lee is an active film and screen industry leader. He has been a film producer and director of award winning films including Hip Hop-eration, The Last Magic Show, Wong Cha Cha, Love & Luksaah, So Far and Yet So Close.
Alex co-founded the Documentary NZ Trust which runs the Doc Edge International Documentary Film Festival (an Academy Award qualifying documentary festival), Screen Edge Limited, Story Edge World, Doc Pitch, Docs 4 Schools/Docs in Schools, Doc Edge Presents and advocacy/mentoring work to support documentary filmmakers. He also founded the Asian NZ Film Foundation and Oryza Foundation for Asian Performing Arts.
Currently, he is also the Chair of Film Auckland Inc., Auckland's pan-screen industry leader, and advisor to ATEED.
He speaks at various international film market events, have been a jury member at international film festivals in Amsterdam, Germany and China.
He also used to be a director of Smiley World Film Sales (no longer in operation), NZ's most successful international documentary sales agent.
Alex is very knowledgeable on documentaries,
funding, impact producing sales and exhibition strategies; mixed and immersive platforms. He can assist you with your international co-productions.
