The world’s coolest little capital will once again come alive with a huge celebration of Pride, Love, Inclusivity and Diversity.
There will be Dykes on Bikes. There will be drag performers. There will be floats from community groups, charities, our Forces and corporates; all coming together to show off the glitz, glamour and guts of our community. 1000s of spectators will line the streets to witness the dazzling display of diversity.
In 2020, the parade will be the major closing event of the Wellington Pride Festival I Tū whakahīhī e Te Whanganui-ā-Tara, which runs from 21 February to 7 March.
THEME / KAUPAPA:
The theme / kaupapa for 2020 is:
"Water; Dive into your Pride | Te wai; Tō Mana. Whakarukuhia!"
Water symbolises nourishment, life, motion, renewal, reflection, growth... so as we look to grow the Wellington International Pride Parade, we want you to grow with us.
As well as the literal meaning of diving into water, 'dive' can also mean to immerse one's self fully into something you are passionate about. We want you to immerse yourself fully into your community and show your pride.
PARADE ROUTE:
Once again, the parade will leave from Tennyson Street, then turn into Cambridge Terrace, Courtenay Place, then right onto Taranaki Street to conclude at the waterfront by Te Papa.
