What is a Perfect First Date Spot?

Your Tinder match and you finally decided that you will meet and take your chatting to a whole new level. You want to go somewhere unusual and original, since you are quite unique and you really want to hit it off with this guy. But where to go? What to do? There are so many choices, yet, all of them seem dull. And what should you wear? Should you have sex the same night? But your jockstrap is not at home at the moment! These might be questions for some other time, let’s start from the beginning – the perfect first date spot. We’ve come up with a list of the best first date spots – some are a bit cliché but very much effective, others are unique, original and very romantic. Take a look and you will find just the perfect one for the two of you:

1. Café

The most basic one, but still quite an effective first date spot is a local cafe. Of course, you won’t be taking him (or he won’t be taking you) to a basic coffee place. If he’s the one making the decisions, make sure to give him a couple of ideas for interesting cafés or restaurants. Not only will you be talking in the great interior of the unique café you chose, you will also be ordering something unusual from the menu. After all, you really want to make this date memorable, and what’s a better way to do this than drinking or eating something for the first time? This can also be an excellent conversation starter.

2. Ice cream shop

No, we’re not talking about your or his “ice cream parlor”, but an actual one. Ice cream is the favorite dessert of many people, so you can’t make a mistake by choosing a good ice cream store as a first date spot. After all, if he doesn’t like ice cream, what kind of person can he be? He probably even smells weird and keeps a family member in his basement (no offense to all of you ice cream dislikers, we’re just kidding!) Choose one with a warm and cozy interior and interesting ice cream flavors. You are very unique, so don’t order vanilla, chocolate and strawberry ice creams no matter how much you love them, okay? Promise?

3. Bowling

If you happen to come across a very sporty yet retro guy who likes vinyl records and cassette players and keeps his Instagram account very Tumblr-like, then a gay bowling alley is the perfect spot for your first date. First of all, it’s very cool and retro, and secondly, you will have a lot of fun and probably many anecdotes to share afterwards. For example, you get to tell everyone how you held his balls or something of that sort. To spice things up, you can always arrange a whole team by inviting his and your best friends to join in. That way you’ll make the atmosphere very comfortable and fun, and who knows – maybe something ballsy will happen among the friends as well.

4. Badminton

Yes, it does sound weird and bizarre, but let’s face it – this kind of a first date will never be forgotten. The chances of either of you being good at badminton are probably very low, so is there a better way to bond than by embarrassing yourselves in front of each other? It’s a lot of fun, so feel free to use this spot for your next first date.

5. Sunset

If you started your hypothetical Tinder conversation with being very romantic to each other and using baby talk (hopefully not), that means that a romantic first date is definitely a must. Especially if you really like this guy, to the point of already browsing interior designs for the future apartment the two of you will buy together. If this is the case, then a romantic sunset on a beach or high building is the perfect first date for you. Bring along a bottle of wine and a box of chocolate, drink, talk, kiss. Make sure to find the perfect spot to watch the sunset beforehand, so that you don’t end up looking at the walls of another building or the window of an elderly lady knitting.

6. Beach picnic

If you’re lucky enough to live in a place that’s by the ocean, and you’re one of the romantic kind, then pack your stuff and organize a beach picnic. The best time to do this is during the night or late afternoon, but any time will do the work, surely. It’s a great place and you’ll have a lot of fun, that’s guaranteed.   As you can see, you can make the most of your first date with practically any place. But stick to one of these 6 suggestions and let us know how it went (probably amazing, but let’s wait for your comment).   Thanks to Peter Minkoff for guest-writing this blog post. Check out his previous post here.
