Even though it seems that we’re God-sent, we also have our flaws. We have our daily routines and moments that we shouldn’t be very proud of, but we also have our sense of humor and good taste, so everything’s forgiven, right? No. We should always work very hard on ourselves, making us the best possible version of us possible. So, what are the bad habits many gay guys have, and how can we change them for the better? Not only will we be living a much healthier and happier life, but it can also do wonders for our figure, mental health and all the people around us. Without further ado, if you find yourself in one of the following bad habits, make sure to change them ASAP:
Focusing on other people
Gay people are known to be there whenever you need them. We all have our best friends; we even have the ones who are not our best, but for some reason, they perceive us as their best friends, and we are constantly trying to help them out, listen to their problems, and give our own tips and pieces of advice. Even though this is not necessarily bad, it’s time you focused on yourself, and not on other people. Everything starts with you, so take the time to focus and work on yourself. However, many opt to focus on their career, which is, once again, not a bad thing. But not having enough time for yourself is never healthy, so make sure not to think about your job or anything else but yourself after your workday ends.
Poor diet
Working on your body and your overall health is always important. Perhaps you’re a gym rat, which we definitely salute, but what if you’re not and you’re constantly eating junk food? This is the most important thing that you need to change about you. Make sure to eat plenty of vegetables and home-cooked meals, and if you don’t have time to prepare those by yourself, you can always opt for tasty fitness meals delivered to your home address or your office. You don’t have to change your whole dietary routine all of a sudden; you can start with small steps. Opt for this step two to three times a week for starters, and you will easily change your whole diet during the month.
Comparing yourself to other gay guys
One of the most common problems in the gay community is the fact that they all try and compare themselves to others. If you’ve watched Queer as Folk, then you probably realized that all gay guys should be extremely handsome, fabulous, fit and quite rich. This definitely brings pressure to one’s life, so it’s very important you stopped comparing yourself to other gay people. You will always find someone who has a better figure than you do, whiter teeth, bigger guns or a bigger paycheck. You need to be yourself, so work hard on being you. Why would you be anyone else?
Having bareback sex
Yes, we live in the year 2019, but that doesn’t mean that the risks of catching a disease or a virus such as HIV are no longer there. This means that you need to pay attention first to the people you have sex with, and secondly, to have protected sex anytime you choose somebody you don’t really know as your partner. Having bareback sex is OK if you’re doing it with your longtime boyfriend, or a person you actually know and trust. Remember this the next time you hook up with someone on Grindr – a minute of ecstasy can cost you a lot more.
Staying up late at night
Finally, it’s also crucial to pay attention to the way we look. We have our style, humor and looks, so why not work on these things whenever we have the chance? The first thing that you need to know is how to properly take care of your skin, but if you already know that, it’s time for level 2. Staying up all night can tremendously affect your skin and the way you look, so try and get those 8 hours of sleep every night. That is, unless you want to wake up with dark circles around your eyes, and we all know how difficult it is to get rid of them. Perhaps we think we’re too perfect, and truth be told – perhaps we are. But that doesn’t mean that there are no things we have to work on. Changing all our bad habits for the better is always something we should have in mind, so if you haven’t thought about this, perhaps it’s time.
